These two video are about finding a fair balance and about helping those in need of rescue from seeming defeat. In the first short video a group of artisans are set a challenge. They must win in a contest that has been “rigged” to insure their failure. Following this, a contract is imposed that gives the victors the upper hand. Not all contracts are fair and equitable. The artisans loose social status and will harbour resentment over this unfair outcome for generations to come. In the second story two heroes have been stranded on a mountain cliff by a mean king who wants to humiliate (and perhaps even kill) them. But Lord Vishnu sees their dilemma and feels compassion for the two stranded men. He appears in disguise, as a wandering ascetic. This mendicant grows long, long braids which he magically throws upwards. The heroes catch these rescue ropes and slide down. Their feet finally reach solid ground below. Due to the help of a stranger these two men can stand tall and proud once more. These short stories have been excerpted from The Legend of Ponnivala’s animated Episodes #1 and #19 respectively.
