These two videos are meant to illustrate a story character’s ability to focus and also to highlight the benefits of being self-confident. In the first video excerpt we see a group of refugees who have been badly beaten and forced to leave their homeland. But they rally, find solidarity as a group and decide to walk to a neighbouring kingdom. There they tell the king about their suffering. They also reveal to him that for many years, their oppressors have failed to pay this king’s required taxes. The king, impressed, takes their side in this dispute and vows to go after his lost revenue. In the second short story there is a small boy, an orphan who fears being beaten. But when questioned by a powerful older man he stands his ground with confidence. He speaks well and this powerful landowner is impressed. As a result the orphan is offered kindness, shelter and a good job. These two videos have been excerpted from The Legend of Ponnivala’s animated Episodes #7 and #18 respectively.
